Day Trading Forex: Step-by-Step Daily Execution Guide

Posted on August 16, 2026 by admin
Day trading Forex successfully requires converting technical analysis into a systematic, repeatable daily routine. By aligning your routine with peak market liquidity and applying strict top-down execution, you remove emotional decision-making from your trading day.
1.Pre-Market Preparation:30-45 minutes before session open.

  • Check Economic Calendar: Note high-impact news events (CPI, NFP, interest rate decisions) for USD, EUR, or GBP. Avoid taking new positions within 15 minutes before or after tier-1 releases.
  • Determine Daily Bias: Open the Daily chart for your chosen currency pairs (e.g., EUR/USD, GBP/USD). Identify whether the market is making Higher Highs/Lows (Bullish) or Lower Highs/Lows (Bearish).
  • Mark Key Price Levels: Draw major horizontal Support, Resistance, and previous day’s High/Low (PDH/PDL) levels on the 1-Hour chart.
2.Session Execution & Setup Identification:During London or NY session open.

* **Wait for Liquidity Sweep or Retest:** Allow the first 15-30 minutes of the session to unfold. Look for price to sweep liquidity above/below key levels or pull back to a 1-Hour support/resistance zone.
* **Confirm Micro-Structure Shift:** Drop to the 5-Minute or 15-Minute chart. Look for a structural shift (break of market structure) paired with a clear trigger candle (Engulfing pattern or Pin Bar rejection).
* **Calculate Position Size:** Limit total risk to 1% or less of total account equity per trade:
$$\text{Position Size (Lots)} = \frac{\text{Account Balance} \times \text{Risk \%}}{\text{Stop-Loss (Pips)} \times \text{Pip Value}}$$
3.Trade Management & Exit Rules:Active trade monitoring.

  • Order Placement: Place a limit or market order with hard Stop-Loss and Take-Profit levels preset in your trading platform.
  • Risk Mitigation: Once price reaches 1:1 Risk-to-Reward ($1R$), move your stop-loss to breakeven or lock in partial profits to secure a risk-free position.
  • Target Take-Profit: Exit the remaining position at the next major intraday structural boundary (prior swing high/low or key zone).
4.Post-Market Review & Logging:End of trading session.

  • Journal Every Metric: Record entry price, exit price, execution timeframe, trade setup type, and final profit/loss in a trading log.
  • Grade Performance: Review whether you followed your execution rules strictly or committed emotional errors (such as FOMO entries or moving stop-losses).
